    Order Test Online

Cholesterol is often associated with fatty foods, but there are many other substances that are produced by our bodies when we eat a certain type of foods. Triglyceride is a type of fat that is carried in the blood and stored in the fat cells in various parts of our body. Excessive triglycerides can put your body at risk for metabolic syndrome and lead to heart disease and diabetes.

    Triglycerides test

    Cost Rs. 200/-

Why is the Triglyceride test done?

While triglycerides store energy and provide energy to the muscles when required, but having excess triglyceride levels along with high LDL cholesterol can boost your risk of having a heart disease when compared to having only high LDL cholesterol level. Triglyceride testing is done as a routine exam for lipid disorder screening. It is also done to evaluate the risk of having heart problems and blood flow issues. In some cases, this testing is done to examine the response of the medicines used for treating lipid disorders. It often forms a part of the lipid profile but can be performed individually too.

How do I prepare for the test?

It is recommended that you fast for 10- 12 hours before the test. Avoid eating fatty food items and alcohol before the test. Also, avoid doing heavy exercise before the test. If you are taking any medications like antibiotics, birth control pills, diuretics, and corticosteroids you inform your doctor.

    What do the results indicate?

Triglycerides less than 150 mg/dL would be considered as the normal range. However, the triglyceride testing alone is not enough to help your doctors find if there is a risk of heart attack or stroke. Your doctor would also include other tests like cholesterol test along with blood pressure reading to evaluate your overall health. Your age and sex also add up along with other factors that would allow your doctor to diagnose your health.
