WHAT IS THE BASIS OF THE ALLERGY TEST?
People having an allergy develop a special type of antibody called Immunoglobulin E (IgE) which can react with natural environmental substances in the air or food. These substances are called allergens.
The most common allergens that cause an allergic reaction are house dust mites, animal dander, pollen, moulds and foods like peanuts, milk, wheat etc.
WHAT WE OFFER AT DISHA PATHOLOGY?
A Specific Quantitative Allergy test – It is an in-vitro diagnosis of allergy performed from a single blood sample. The allergen specific IgE antibody test is used to screen for an allergy to a specific allergen. It measures the amount of that suspected IgE antibody in the blood.

- Walk in to one of our centers (Bandra West or Marine Drive) OR schedule a home visit
- Fill out an allergy history form
- We will draw a 2ml blood sample
- Results available on the same day (get your report in person, by email or online)

OTHER TESTS THAT YOU MIGHT WANT TO DO WITH YOUR ALLERGY TEST
If the eosinophil count is high, it could be due to your allergy or due to other conditions that require to be investigated further
The total IgE test is used to screen for and detect allergic diseases. An increased level indicates that it is likely that a person has one or more allergies, but will not reveal what the person is allergic to
HOW TO PREVENT AN ALLERGIC REACTION?
Once you identify your allergy, you can:
Avoid exposure to the allergen.
Seek medical care if you’re exposed to the allergen.
Carry medications to treat anaphylaxis.
You may not be able to avoid an allergic reaction completely, but these steps can help you prevent future allergic reactions.
